2017 National Convention

The 47th Mu Alpha Theta National Convention will be held from July 16-21 at the Adam's Mark Hotel in Buffalo, NY.

***Schools must submit a medical release form, medical record, indemnity agreement, and a student participation policies form for every participant. These forms are included in the packet (PAGES 12 and 13 and 14). Please copy as many as your school needs. Postmark deadline:  June 1, 2017.

***Please email a photo of your chapter, the students who will be attending the national convention, or a picture of your school that will be shown at our opening ceremonies. We would hate to leave your school out.


Registration: $550 per person, if a $50 non-refundable deposit is postmarked by April 1

Registration: $600 per person if no deposit was paid; postmarked May 15

Checks for all registrations must be postmarked by May 15.

All students participating in the national convention must be registered as members or associates with the national office of Mu Alpha Theta. Associates can be entered by sponsors online at Mu Alpha Theta's website by logging in and pressing the "Add Associates" button.


  • The hotel offers a discounted rate for extended stays up to 3 days before or after the convention. These reservations are not included in the convention fee. 
  • Please call (716) 845-5100 (Monday-Friday between 9:00am-5:00pm EST) and follow the prompts to reservations to book these extra days.  
  • Any reservations made before or after the convention dates are based on availability.  The hotel suggests calling prior to 30 days before the start of the convention, to ensure a reservation can be made. 

If you do not want to pay hotel sales tax on early or late reservations, most schools can get tax-free status in New York by filing the form ST-119.2:  Please allow adequate time (one to two months) for processing.  You must provide a copy of the certificate the state issues prior to arrival or when you mail them your check.  

Please note: The early and late room rate is $124 a room, plus tax, if the school doesn't get tax-free status in NY.


Arrival and departure transportation between the airport and the Adam's Mark Hotel: 

Arrivals: On Sunday, July 16, Mu Alpha Theta will provide shuttle buses from the airport to the hotel between noon and 5:00 pm. 

Departures: On Friday, July 21, shuttle buses will depart from the hotel going to the airport, up until 11:00 am.

 If you are arriving on the Saturday before the convention, you will need to make your own transportation arrangements.

Airport-Downtown Express - Metro Route 204 
This shuttle runs nonstop service between the airport and Buffalo's central business district, including the Metro Bus station downtown (Metropolitan Transportation Center). One-way fare is $2.50 Service runs weekdays, approximately every 30 minutes, during peak drive time. The stop is located before the "Arrivals" entrance at the airport. Consult the schedule - 


The sponsor of each chapter attending the national convention may nominate up to two members for a need-based scholarship. The scholarship will cover the member's registration fee and reimburse up to $300 for transportation to the 2017 Buffalo National Convention. Need-based scholarship recipients' registration fees will be credited to their schools' convention account after their application has been approved by the national office. Travel expenses will be reimbursed after the convention.
