consisting of three national officers (President, President-Elect or the
immediate Past President, and Secretary-Treasurer), four Regional Governors,
and representatives appointed by the Mathematical Association of America
, the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics,
the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics,
and the American Mathematical Association of Two-Year Colleges.
The national officers and the Governors are elected by Chapter sponsors and serve without
remuneration. They meet twice a year, once in February at the National Office and at the
National Convention each summer. The every day functions of Mu Alpha Theta are handled
by an Executive Director appointed by the Secretary-Treasurer. You can view a copy of
the
National Constitution, with included By-Laws.
Student delegates from the schools at the
National Convention
elect Student Delegate Officers to make recommendations to the Governing Council.
The student delegates have set up a website
and have a number of committees that
work during the year to involve members nationwide between conventions. Their
By-Laws are viewable here.
Some states have state Mu Alpha Theta organizations which host
state and regional activites for their members. At present, Florida,
Mississippi, Tennessee, Texas and Louisiana have state organizations.
